Field notes on weapons, bosses, and the kung-fu punk setting

Field notes

Three reads from public sources: a childhood wooden sword that can clear the game, drunken blades that grow wilder as the stance loosens, and Kung-fu Punk as a coined aesthetic rather than a coat of paint on a Souls-like.

Wooden sword

A practice blade that can finish the adventure

In an October 2026 interview, Soulframe Liang said the wooden sword Soul has carried since childhood can, in theory, carry a full clear. The idea sits in kung-fu philosophy: at a high enough mastery, an ordinary weapon is enough. It is an optional challenge, not a required handicap.

Chapter two

Drunken blades and a boss in the rain

The same interview points to drunken blades picked up in chapter two. Reach changes, the stance looks drunk, and the sword gets harder to steer as the power climbs. A bridge boss in pouring rain was the landmark the director used. Read it as a landmark, not a frame-by-frame kill sheet.

What Kung-fu Punk is pointing at

Liang coined Kung-fu Punk for hollowed faces, mechanical towers, and red threads that seem to steer bodies. He has said the fantasy should stay subtle and rooted in Chinese martial culture, rather than a sky full of obvious dragons. Bruce Lee’s water-and-moon image is one reference he named.

What these notes refuse to invent

The game launches 29 October 2026, or 28 October in the US and select regions, so there is no live patch ledger yet. Bellroad Journal will not publish fake version numbers. Until S-GAME posts day-one notes, these pages stick to interviews, the 17 August 2026 State of Play, and the showcase demos the director has discussed.

  • Confirmed systems stay separate from fan guesses.
  • Boss talk stays at behaviour, not frame data we do not have.
  • The “over 3 million wishlists” line is the director’s recollection, not a live counter.
